Public Consultation Coming to a Close
Derby City Council is proposing to apply for more powers to regulate HMOs (House in Multiple Occupation). This follows an investigation in several central wards which mapped where shared properties are concentrated and looked at the problems that they are creating on the streets.
Darley is one of the wards so there have been blue notices on lamp posts etc round the Six Streets area.
There is a growing market in the city for HMOs, and the study found that some residents are concerned that too many in one area creates problems such as a lack of parking, anti-social behaviour such as fly tipping, and a deterioration of buildings.
Other cities in the East Midlands require planning permission for all HMOs not just ones with more than 7 residents. This change requires views gathered from Derby residents in a public consultation.

The consultation started on Tuesday 2 April and will run until Friday 31 May. It will give tenants and other residents a chance to have their say on how HMOs in their area affect them.
So if you wish to let the council know about how HMOs have affected your area, then you have until the end of May. You can either email your representations to Developmentcontrol@derby.gov.uk
or alternatively, post any written representations to:
