Parkfields Cedars Parking Permit Zone

The parking bays are being painted over on Sherwin Street and neighbouring roads ready for the start of the permit parking system. This has been much delayed by covid. It shoudl be up and running by Monday.

When the university was fully open, there were such a high level of complaints to the council about parking in Parkfields Cedars area as well as over around Cowley Street that the council agreed to consultations in both areas. These consultations were resident led with residents in Parkfields Cedars being very active.

The Sherwin St area had a very high response rate and a definite yes to permits. Cowley Street area had a majority of those returning forms saying they wanted permits but the low response rate meant that the council could not proceed.

The University of Derby is allowed to fully re-open from Monday May 17th. Usually many students pay for an annual pass for Markeaton Park car park and catch the free bus from there. It is not clear how many students have the pass given the university has been closed/only partially open for much of this academic year. Or how many students need to attend for the tail end of the year.

There is more information on residential parking permits here If you live on one of the streets in the new zone and haven’t had the information to allow you to apply for a permit either for your car, visitors’ cars or a carer’s pass, then you can phone 0333 200 6981 or email customerservices@derby.gov.uk
