There were two applications to build flats on the land owned by the former pharmacist and currently used by pharmacy staff and customers as a car park. Both were rejected by Derby City Council. The

The second application was rejected on the basis that the development would be out of keeping for the area and the size of the flats proposed was below regulated standards. This was taken to appeal by Raj Suddhi and the national Government agency, the Planning Inspectorate has now ruled that the council were correct in refusing planning permission.
