Unwanted Adult Bikes?

If anyone has an unwanted bike that they’d like to donate to charity, it can be collected by Jim of Bike Back tel no 987250

www.lifecycleuk.org.uk

The bikes will be reconditioned by Bike Back - with the work done by prisoners at HMP Stocken, HMP Nottingham, HMP Swinfen Hall and HMP Sudbury who are working towards a "Level 2" City & Guilds qualification in Cycle Mechanics.

The fixed bicycles are brought back to Derby and sold at affordable prices to help more local people to start cycling, particularly those on a low-income.  Their partners include: Wheels to Work, University of Derby, Derby Royal Hospital and Sustrans.

The scheme reduces the flow of old bikes to landfill and provides employment, training and nationally accredited City & Guilds qualifications for prisoners.

The project also aims to provide support to prisoners that have been involved with the project following their release, helping them to make better life choices and ultimately, to gain employment.
