Markeaton Park - Poacher's Oak Poem

The Poacher’s Oak is a hollow but living veteran tree a short distance away from the footbridge over the A38. It is surrounded by younger oak trees. It is said that when the park was private land, a poacher hid inside the tree to evade the bailiffs!
