School Safe Zone - Traffic Camera

As well as the Bromley Street camera there is another new one locally - to enforce the no entry restriction onto Darley Park Drive from the car park next to the park Lodge gate. Apparently that was put up on July 12th.

The cameras to enforce the School Safe Haven zones will be put up in August, ready for the new academic year starting in September. Bromley Street is a School Safe Zone so it will have a camera. Residents are aware that some traffic has continued to drive through since the scheme started. The fixed camera is intended to act as a deterrent.

The aim of the scheme is to help improve road safety, ease congestion and reduce inconsiderate and dangerous driving. The School Safe Haven zones were introduced to make it safer for children and parents to get to the school gates, and has seen roads temporarily closed at busy school run times. The scheme was first launched in November, last year, but after a high number of drivers ignored the rules, the new traffic enforcement cameras will see enforcement stepped up when the 2022/23 school year begins.
