Monitoring of the current School Safe Haven Zones has revealed that a high number of drivers continue to ignore the restrictions. This detracts from the schemes achieving their aims and objectives. Vehicles which contravene driving restrictions create potential dangers to both pedestrians and other road users.

Whilst the Police carry out enforcement, currently, it is not a top priority and the Council will be able to deploy a more robust manner of enforcement to reduce the casual disregard of the restrictions. You are invited to comment on the proposals.

There is also an online public consultation event which will be held on Thursday 23 June, 2022, at 11am. Again, using the above link to find details of how to join the meeting. Everyone is invited to attend, even if there is not a proposal within your ward. We welcome as wide an input as possible.
