St Mary’s new building is part of a pilot scheme for the Department for Education and the work is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023. The aim is to be net zero and energy efficient with much produced on site to cut bills.
Tthe design looks to connect children & staff with nature, the goal being to promote physical and mental health. There will be a series of single-storey pavilions connected by a central canopy. Each age group - early years, infants and juniors - will have its own space. In addition, there will be a shared building with the main entrance, school hall & chapel and communal areas.
