Safer Streets - Feedback

:

High quality CCTV has been installed at number of junctions between Ashbourne and Kedleston Rd. Derby Council is clear in reassuring people that none of the cameras are set up in way they can view people's properties. No privacy issues - public space only.

Neighbourwatch co-ordinator is very happy to support any new groups across Darley Ward & beyond. Abbie Coleman can be contacted on hello@derbyshireneighbourwatch.co.uk

Derby Homes has had something like 200 people get in touch about the free supply and installation of crime prevention kit such as security lighting and window alarms. A few people on learning details decided not to take advantage of the scheme. Some because of covid concerns and some didn't think it was for them.

Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner is - along with other PCCs across the country - still making the point to the Home Office that more time should be allowed for the money to be spent. This is because of Home Office delays in allocating the funding and because difficulties from covid. The only concession from Home Office has been to extend the area the money can be spent on from the West End which qualified on the grounds of very high levels of theft especially muggings to the whole of Darley Ward. The money still has to be spent by the end of March.
