Our City Our River - Parker's Piece

As part of the Our City, Our River project which has seen the flood defences built from St Mary’s Bridge to the rugby club, Parker’s Piece is being brought back into use. This is the cricket field by Handyside Bridge in front of City Rd with the much damaged cricket pavilion.

An artificial wicket has been laid with grass ones going in soon and unevenesses round the field are being filled in and bumps levelled off. There were checks for any further archaelogical remains as part of the work. The pavilion is going to be refurbished and so is being checked ove for a bat licence (flying kind rather than hit the ball kind!)
