Aida Bliss housing development: Update
Since June, the council has had a virtual meeting to discuss the shortlist of 5 companies who have submitted bids for new housing on the site. The council is looking for a development that will be work with the history of the site as well usual considerations of cost, quality, sustainablilty, timetable etc. The 5 bids were scored on the basis of these points and will be asked further questions in the next meeting.
original post in June:
There has been progress in developing the Aida Bliss site as new housing since lockdown began.
The Council aims to ensure that the new development will be in keeping with the existing heritage building and the local conservation area and the original plan for high-density housing has changed.
Thirteen companies were invited to submit plans and bids and there is now a shortlist of five. Once the final developer has been appointed, detailed planning of the design will be undertaken and community consultation will take place.
It was hoped that the development will be completed by the end of 2021 or early 2022 but obviously this has been affected, and will continue to be affected, by the Covid-19 pandemic.
