Update: Food Bank Volunteering and Donations
The Darley Food Hub will open on Monday 20th April - there will be 2 timed slots per week for dropping off donations at the West End Community Centre - watch this space.
Another drop off place is Broadway Baptist Church.
Items for donation:
Milk Pasta Rice Tinned meat Tinned fish Tinned vegetables Baked beans Soup Cereal Biscuits Feminine hygiene products and toiletries may also be needed Cleaning Products are also usually needed at food banks
Items such as bread, fresh fruit/veg and other short-life goods will be distributed and made available on an ad hoc basis.
The Food Hub will be giving out food parcels to people who have been referred there via the Derby Covid Support Hub. If you know some one in need due to the financial impact of the lockdown, please encourage them to ring 01332 640000.
If you wish to donate cash, then there is a donation page set up by Strutt’s Park and Six Streets . Doing the Easter Trail is not compulsory - you can choose simply to donate. But the trail isn’t just for kids - if you are feeling in need of a global tour, this is for you as you take your daily exercise!
If you would like to join the rota of 50 volunteers to sort and pack food parcels, deliver them to people who can not leave their home or distribute them at the centre, please email ben@stalkmunds.org.uk
please note: Food Hub is backed by Derby City Council. The email and donation page refers to St Alkmunds because they are a long standing food bank provider locally so funds can be channelled there. All cash donations will be reserved for Food Hub as all costs of the trail have been met by Strutt’s Park and Six Streets.
