Highways England - A38 roundabout changes

Highways England is planning to remove the 3 Derby roundabouts in order to allow through A38 traffic to flow more smoothly . https://highwaysengland.co.uk/projects/a38-derby-junctions/

At the minute, the plans are not finalised as it is before the Planning Inspectorate so members of the public can give their views eg voice support for the scheme or input any concerns they have on the project.

The Planning Inspectorate meets in Derby on the 18th and 19th February 2020. These are issue specific hearings to discuss
• Transport networks and traffic
• Air quality
• Noise and vibration
• The water environment
• Biodiversity and ecological conservation
• Landscape and visual impact
• Land use, social and economic impact
• The historic environment
• Other policy and factual issues

So it includes matters such as the section of Markeaton Park that will be needed for the road widening which involves the loss of mature trees and the closure of the Markeaton Island car park to allow the works to take place.
