Update: Bins - Christmas Collections
Update: due to recent high level of bags and boxes left round the recycling bins at Sainsburys Kingsway, they have said they will fence them off round Christmas. They are working to clear the mess which includes a fair amount of stuff that couldn’t have gone in the bins anyway.
In case your information tag fell off before you brought your bin in, here is the schedule for this Christmas:
On Wed 23rd December, the recycling bins will be collected as normal.
The black bin would be due for emptying on the 30th Dec but hold on to it until the 6th January with the recycling bins being collected on the 13th. You can put up to 3 extra bags of landfill waste beside your black bin for the first collection in New Year. Any boxes full of bottles and bags full of cardboard etc left beside the blue bin on the first collection in 2021 will be collected i.e. no limit (please leave them open so the guys can check contents easily)
Please Note:
the time of collection may vary across the holiday period so best get your bin out the night before unless you like taking them out early in the morning - before 6.30am to be sure of collection.
Glittery and foil wrapping paper and cards go in the black bin. Ones that tear easily or crumple up and stay crumpled count as paper and go in the blue bin. The council say they will not empty blue bins with the glitter/foil ones in - along with, as ever, plastic bags, food waste and electrical appliances (these last should be taken to Raynesway not put in the black bin)
Brown bin - food and garden waste as always. Real Christmas trees can be chopped up to fit or taken to Raynesway.
