Dog Safety - Frozen Ponds

Sadly, a small dog which was being walked by its owner strayed onto a frozen pond, went through the ice and died. Derbys Fire & Rescue did attend but by the time they could retrieve the pet, the cold had been too much.

They ask that pet owners keep dogs away from frozen ponds and lakes unless they are on leads. They also remind owners not to venture out on the ice risking their own life if a dog does get stuck.
