Dog Microchipping & Updating - Free!

  • Markeaton Park Craft Village DE22 3BG (map)

On Sunday 5 March, Derby City Council's Dog Wardens will be providing another free microchipping and updating service for all dogs in the city between 11.00am and 3.00 pm in the Community Room at the Craft Village in Markeaton Park.

If your dog isn’t microchipped, the team will be able to microchip your dog and add your details to the database. If you think details on your dogs microchip might be out of date, these can be quickly and easily updated.

There’s no appointment needed, just pop along with your pooch and a form of ID with your address on.

Did you know that in England, Wales, and Scotland, all dogs over the age of eight weeks must be microchipped and wear a collar with an ID tag? If you own a dog, you are also responsible for keeping the microchip information up to date.

A microchip is a little identification device (about the size of a grain of rice) that connects a dog to their owner. Each microchip has a unique number that can be read by a scanner and once fitted should last the rest of your dog's life. If your dog is microchipped and goes missing, council dog wardens & vets can scan the dog to locate you as an owner.
