Home Energy Event - save money!

  • Derbion Community Room DE1 2PL (map)

Derby City Council is organising this event to offer Home Energy/Cost of living advice and support for the Derby community.

It will take place on Friday 22nd March from 10:00 – 16:00 in the Derbion Community Room. There will also be a stand in the main atrium of the shopping centre to catch people as they walk through.

The purpose of the event is to offer free advice, support and signposting to members of the community to help them save energy and reduce their bills, especially in light of the cost-of-living crisis.

This will cover topics including:

·       Insulating your home

·       Reading your energy bills and energy meters

·       Government grants for improving your home’s energy efficiency, e.g. the Great British Insulation Scheme.

·       Government financial support for the cost-of-living crisis, e.g. emergency energy vouchers and food banks.

·       Impartial information and advice on renewable energy technologies such as solar panels and heat pumps for people’s homes.

The Council will also have some energy saving products (such as LED lightbulbs and draught excluders) to give away to those who need them.

Local people will be able to learn from local experts, ask questions and be signposted to further advice and/or grant support. It will bring together cross-cutting themes of climate change, home energy, transport, wellbeing, cost of living, health etc. and gather local organisations involved in these work areas to provide holistic support to Derby residents.

The format will be fairly informal, with stands where people can mill around and ask questions, and also a few short talks on home energy topics. Already booked are -
