Sue Stone used to live at 90 Kedleston Road so some local residents may remember her. Her daughter Penny has written this in her memory.

A Feminist Requiem for Community Voices and Soloists
In memory of Sue Stone

This March, Penny Stone will be premiering her Feminist Requiem in honour of her awesome mum, Sue Stone, as well as the many thousands of women whose shoulders we all stand upon.
The Seeds of Hope Requiem is written in 18 languages, celebrating women’s voices from around the world, and is performed by a community chorus, semichorus and soloists. The piece gives us all space to reflect individually as well as connect with the communities around us. It is both sorrowful and joyful and lasts about an hour and twenty minutes.
Concert tickets are priced on a sliding scale from £8-£15 and workshop tickets are priced on a sliding scale from £30-£50 – please pay what you can afford, and if you need a free ticket for either event please just email and I’ll make sure your name is on the list, no questions asked.
If you would like to be part of the community chorus part of this performance, there will be a rehearsal on the evening of Friday 3rd March and the morning of March 4th. We will then have a shared lunch and there will be a final rehearsal and concert in Derby Cathedral on the afternoon of March 4th. Penny will arrange a zoom session ahead of time and provide audio tracks for a couple of the songs. The songs are all simple enough to be learnt by ear.

Please note that whilst we are honouring the women who have come before us, this is not a women-only event - all are welcome, feminism is for everyone! Singing is for everyone. Grief and Joy are for everyone.
