New cafe/deli for Darley Abbey
A shop in Darley Abbey (previously a picture framing business) is to become a cafe/deli. The council has granted temporary permission to allow a new café bar on Church Lane to open until 10.20pm from Monday until Saturday and 9.20pm on Sundays for a 12-month period. The owner of the premises said that they could not succeed under the previous permission which meant closing at 8pm.
There has been no application for an alcohol or music licence. The environmental health officers recommend that the premises has additional noise insulation fitted along with screening for the smoking area. Planning officers said the temporary permission meant the business could be assessed in coming months in light of concerns from nearby residents about noise, traffic and smells from the kitchen
