Tie a Red Ribbon
You may have noticed ribbons tied to tree trunks and branches near the pedestrian bridge into Markeaton Park and wondered what they mean. There were put there by people living nearby, including in Six Streets, to show people the trees which will be cut down as part of the A38 project.
The plans to totally change the A38 to have an underpass at Markeaton Island, 3 lane section between there and Kedleston Road with the speed limit being raised have gone before the Transport Secretary for approval.
