Superhero Picnic
Usually the annual Superhero Picnic in Darley Park is a busy afternoon for children in the summer holiday but it can’t happen this year, so the council have decided to replace it with a virtual event.
“On Tuesday 28 July from 11am to 3pm, we will be sharing lots of activities, crafts and videos online for you to get involved with in your own home, not forgetting everyone’s favourite Superhero Picnic Lunch. So put on your best Superhero outfit, and prepare your tastiest sandwiches ready for a super day!”
As well as craft and educational activities, there are ideas on training up to be a Superhero and a celebration of real life heroes.
“For this year’s picnic, we also want to celebrate all of your heroes, so we want to know who your hero is. It could be your mum, dad, aunty or uncle, or maybe it’s your local postal workers, park rangers or refuse collectors – whoever it is, we want to celebrate the impact they have had in your life and say a huge thank you! Take a photo with them and, with their permission, share it with us on the @DerbyParks social media pages, using the hashtag #MySuperhero. Post your photos in advance of the day and we will share them on our superhero wall to celebrate all of our Derby heroes.”
