As part of Derby’s Festival of Light, there will be hundreds of lanterns paraded through Derby. The Derby Lantern Festival will take place on Saturday, November 12 from 4 to 5.30pm.
The lanterns are made from biodegradable materials, including willow and tissue paper, and will be lit with energy-efficient LED bulbs rather than flames. They will be held up on bamboo sticks by those taking part in the festival, with children from across the city taking part in lantern-making workshops held across the city over the recent October half-term.
The parade leads in to the Christmas Lights switch on and will take place across the city centre, including at The Spot, St Peter's Street, Derbion and the Market Place.
