John McDonald is exhibiting a whole body of new works, mainly large scale paintings, in oil on canvas with some acrylics.

The paintings are portraits, but not in the traditional sense of portraiture. whether they are of local people whose image has struck him in a particular way or of public figures, or documentary journalism, creating a drama and story; where the photographer has granted permission for John to use their images.
