Advent Windows make the Paper

In 2011, Derby Telegraph came and talked to people in Six Streets about our first ever Advent Window calendar. As they came on 30th November, there were no windows open to be photographed beside. So we had our photo taken next to some festive coloured shrubbery on Wheeldon Ave! This is so long ago that there doesn’t seem to be a way of finding the article online but this snippet from a saved copy proves it happened!

Six Streets was very new in those days and the photo shows Jenny (far left) who had the original idea of neighbours getting to know each other better.

The very first window that opened on December 1st was a Partridge in a Pear Tree & set a high standard but we have always be pleased to see windows made by children or designed by the less artistic amongst us!
